Artist
history
Paul Downey
was raised in the outskirts of Clymer, NY. He became fascinated
with music when he jammed with his cousins in a garage with garbage
cans and other mundane objects.
Dave and Matt('the bros') also grew up in Corry, PA. They have been
playing music since they were children, attending violin lessons
in Jamestown, NY twice a week. Thankfully they took up guitar.
The three got together and formed a band called 3DK. They performed
locally, but were pulled apart when band members moved away for
college.
Jake Willis grew up in Columbus, PA where he wrote music with some
friends and played in the band dOZER. They ventured west and returned
with a CD. They eventually broke up and he began playing in Face
Down in High Water.
Reviews
Review for Battle of the Bands from PlayErie.com:
FDH2O or Face Down In High Water occupied the middle slot for Battle
4. Hard rock/metal? Not sure. They reminded me of Judas Priest punching
out Coal Chamber. But what the hell do I know?
Here's where the soundman's "1 Mix Fits All" method works.
Lots of energy and distortion! AAHHH. Reminds me of my youth! Once
again this band has a style which they were true to. I see from
the PlayErie Calendar that this band plays alot.....and it shows.
You can't get a sound this polished just by rehearsing. You gotta'
slug it out live. Very strong performance.
The standings after week 4 of Battle of the Bands are:
1st
Place - Face Down In High Water
2nd - Ron Yarosz
3rd - Frog Tree Gorge Band

Review
in Erie Times-News, 8-21-02:
New band, 'Facedown in Highwater,' to issue CD full of original
music
Let's face it, a band with a name like "Facedown in Highwater"
is an eye opener.
"Facedown in Highwater" is one of the area's most popular
new bands, with 16 original songs in the funk, blues, and rock genres
all co-written by the band members.
The band features Corry's Matt Downey, bass guitar; and brother
Dave Downey, lead guitar; plus cousin Paul Downey from Clymer, N.Y.,
lead singer, and Jake Willis from Columbus, drums. THey will be
playing at the Sherman Hotel on Aug. 24.
"Facedown in Highwater" has a demo out with live songs
on it and a mini-CD will be available within a week. A complete
CD will be issued shortly thereafter. The band is planning a tour
for next summer, according to Joe Schrecengost, the group's manager.
