History
Singer Christian Allen started his musical career with Red Sky,
a local death-core band. Bassist Kris Porter has played with many
bands, including Allen’s Red Sky, for a brief time. Guitarist
Andrew Bufalino, who played in a few projects prior to joining General
Noreaga, has found his niche with this band. Drummer Tristan Gall
also plays with the melodic metal group, Orphean Son. He has been
with them for the past five years.
This project originally formed out of Porter and Allen’s desire
to begin an original rock gig. After only two months together General
Noreaga recorded their demo, "Give Them my Regards," at
Hammersound Productions over a 48-hour period during December 2001.
In November of 2002, the band released their first full-length project
together on 203 N. Skytop Records entitled “Choose Your Sins.”
The group worked again with Hammersound Productions recording this
album prior to coming on board with 203 Records. Although General
Noreaga and 203 N. Skytop Records are young in their time together,
each entity displays a well-built dedication to each other’s
future plans.
This latest album shows the band’s dedication to their sound,
along with a desire to expand beyond the live show presence they
are so widely known for. Tracks such as “The Profane”
involve outside artists for backup vocal tracking, adding an element
unseen on stage. The power experienced in their live show however,
is not lost in the production. The CD begins with “Waiting
For A Miracle,” echoing the vibrant presence of Allen and
company in the flesh. Each member brings a definitive outside influence,
yet the end product is a stronghold of group vision. Bringing together
a power grove with an in-depth melodic flow.
Over the last
year and a half, the band has created a large local following in
the Erie, PA area, playing mainly in bar and club venues. General
Noreaga opened up to a younger audience through a September 2002
all ages show at Edinboro University, where they played with Super
No. 7 and Sponge. Although short-term promotions are keeping the
band in the over 21 scene, there are more all ages shows in the
not-so-distant future. As for plans outside the tri-state booking
arena, General Noreaga is looking to expand their fan base through
radio and other media, along with a U.S. Summer Tour in the works.
“Choose Your Sins” is now available online and in record
stores in the Erie and Edinboro, PA areas.
