like. In fact, she's so fond of that literary device that she's
named her decade-in-the-making solo CD "Metaphors and Musings."
Take "Bad Dog," the stark, harrowing first track. A woman
is so subservient to her significant other that she compares her
relationship role to a dog that's willing to do anything to please
his master. "I'm a bad dog, and I need to be put down,"
she sings. On "Rereading You," Volk likens a lover to
a good book she can't put down. Then there's "Insect,"
the musical equivalent of a Franz Kafka/David Cronenberg merger.
"I'll never forget that night when you turned into an insect
right before my eyes. I'll never forget that night when you up and
metamorphosized," Volk sings caustically, her voice dripping

Artist History
After spending the better part of 20 years as a female guitarist
in a man's world of rock n roll cover bands, Christine decided to
focus solely on creating original work."My music is a catharses.It
keeps me sane (almost)." I was amazed to discover how
much I had to say."
Jocelyn Porter Project is a tribute to my family & to my Mother
who gave up so many of her own creative dreams to raise me &
nurture the artist in me.Thanks to her & to my Father for putting
that Sears guitar I begged for under the Christmas tree so many
years ago.
