Description
eet the band... The band s ringleader is TITO, belting out the superior,
stylish, and very versatile lead vocals and driving the band with
air tight rhythm guitar. On drums and backing vocals you have TITO
s partner in crime, SWAN. He keeps the rock solid back beat and
occasionally leaves the kit to join TITO up front for different
kinds of comical theatrics, i.e.: An original song called Limp Dick
Swan , sung as a duet about his run-ins with, well...erectile dysfunction.
On the bass guitar you have their resident burnout in Mike Di-Ethyl
Ether , slapping out the bass lines with a reckless party energy
on stage to keep the crowd riding on the groove. And then there
is Eric The Guitar Boy adding colorful lead lines throughout the
songs, as well as very proficient and stylish guitar solos when
the spotlight is his. And last, but certainly not least there is
world renowned air guitar virtuoso, Andy S.O.K. Although he has
a slight case of autism, on stage, he transforms into quite an adorable
little rock star that crowds absolutely love.
Style...TITO and SWAN transcend being categorized in any one genre
with a plethora of original tunes that are restricted to no one
taste in music. Their songs range from soft acoustic heartfelt numbers
to hard hitting vocal driven rock all the way to enormously catchy
silly pop songs. (A writer for the Erie Daily Times once referred
to them as Barenaked Ladies meets the creators of South Park ).
The songs draw influence from bands as diverse as the Beatles, They
Might Be Giants, Elvis Costello, Green Day, etc. The lyrics can
be either completely irreverent and fun, or totally sincere and
poetic. Their repertoire is definitely diverse enough to give any
listener something to grab hold of. The true magic, though, is that
they somehow bridge the gap between all these different genres without
isolating anyone and before you know it, it somehow makes perfect
sense to hear that serious ballad about the prevalence of bigotry
in today s society ( It s Only A Matter Of Time ) in the same set
as a song about TITO s dog, Cock who licks his nuts all day. ( Cock
s Song ) And in addition to all of their own compositions, you never
know what kind of original cover you might hear. A few examples
are a pepped up modernized version of the Moody Blues Nights in
White Satin and a totally punked out, radio friendly version of
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun . This ever fresh style never fails in
keeping fans intrigued and ready to enjoy the entire experience
while wondering what s to come.
Substance. Perhaps the most important facet to a truly good original
band. TITO and SWAN bring it all. Songs and presence based on truth.
A fresh take on the real world without the inhibition of trying
to fit any mold. Strength in honesty. Any given TITO and SWAN show
swims with an energy symbiont to the crowd. A punk rooted connection
where everyone is in on it. There is a vibe that says you are who
you are and that s what s great . Every show delivers more than
just solid quality music, It s a time like no other that always
leaves a crowd wanting more.
Once captivated by the music and the live show, the first step of
experiencing a whole different world has been taken. But TITO and
SWAN runs deeper with antics and characters not short of being compared
to some kind of enchanted circus. Whether it be the 50 year old
male stripper (The White Stallion), the Asian elder praised as all
knowing (Llu, pronounced Woo), 63 year old Blitzkrieg Bobo the perverted
clown or his son Gerry the disgruntled, homophobic, schizophrenic,
pathologically lying mime, etc., crazy characters and occurrences
are constantly emerging to entertain anyone who s interested. With
unbelievably crazy true stories to accompany everything among much,
much more, there is always something else to indulge your interest
further.
TITO and SWAN is really something not to be summed up in, in so
few words, but really to be experienced for yourself.
