Description
We're a group of guys that play meaningful songs with unpredictable tempos and many changes and breakdowns in them. Some people say we resemble The Ataris, others say we don't sound like anybody at all, but if you ask us we'll say we sound like The Twirpentines. Our lyrics are based on real situations in our lives, as well as the people and experiences we encounter, on this long road we call "life". We've been playing for over 3 years now. Feel free to write us, we'll write back... we promise. Did we mention we'll play anywhere?

Music style
In one word: "Passionate". In many words: "Catchy songs that go from melodically slow beats to upbeat ones. Always sure to include many breakdowns and changes in speed, volume, and tone to keep you happy, yet emotional.

Musical influences
From Buddy Holly to Hot Water Music.

Artist history
It all started in January of 1996 in Fred's room as a three piece just looking to express ourselves musically, and most importantly have fun. Since then we've obtained a new bass player and added a guitar player as well. We continue to play shows and write music out of the plain fact that we refuse to ever grow up, or to ever give up the friendships that we share, and never take them for granted. Contact us... we will play anywhere and are happy to be a part or your compilations, etc. What does our name mean? In the 1800's scientists actually believed that "turpentine" (which was and STILL is used in certain pesticides) was the cause of "midgets" AKA "little people" being born. The scientists believed that if 2 adults accidentally consumed moderate amounts turpentine (which can be found on most foods eaten even today) then their children would subsequently have stunted growth and be born a midget or.... "a twirp". Hence.... "The Twirpentines".
